北京口腔医学研究所成立于1989年，其前身是1977年建立的龋病研究室。经过近30年的努力已建设成为国内有重要影响的口腔医学研究所，一些研究方向在国际亦有一定影响。研究所建筑面积约1000平方米，固定资产近1500万元，每年医院向实验室投入近200万元。目前，研究所是口腔医学一级学科博士点及博士后流动站的培养和研究基地。2002年被批准为国家教育部科学与技术高级人才培养基地，是目前我国口腔医学院校中唯一的教育部临床高级人才培养基地，也是北京市重点学科的研究基地。
近年来承担十多项国家级课题包括863项目2项，国家杰出青年科学基金2项（A类、B类），973课题1项，国家自然科学基金重点项目1项，面上项目10项，国家“十五”攻关课题子课题2项；多项北京市及教育部课题，包括北京市重大专项课题（牵头单位），北京市科技新星计划11项，留学归国人员研究基金等。发表SCI收录的英文论著60多篇，其中在口腔权威杂志发表多篇论著。获国际口腔医学奖2项（William J Gies 奖 (年度最佳研究论文奖 IADR/AADR);最佳封面论文奖 胡冰 王松灵等），国家科技进步2等奖1项，全国百篇优秀博士论文奖1项，部市级科技成果奖3项。在涎腺基因研究、牙齿生长发育及牙齿再生研究、口腔家族性遗传病致病基因研究等方面在国内处于领先地位，并有国际影响。在口腔正畸、口腔微生物、龋病研究、口腔黏膜病、口腔种植牙等方面处于国内先进水平。2007年申请北京市科委条件技术平台，其目的通过平台的建立可整合北京地区已有的口腔研究资源，提高口腔疾病的研究和诊治水平，从而全方位提高和改善北京地区人群口腔卫生保健和治疗水平。
目前研究所有高层管理人员、专业管理人员及全职专业技术人员24人，包括教授6人，副高职2人。设有基因治疗分子生物学实验室、细胞生物学实验室、口腔微生物实验室、口腔生物化学实验室、口腔生物材料实验室、口腔生理实验室、口腔实验病理研究室、口腔医学史研究室等8个实验室及一个国际认可SPF级的动物实验室。

Beijing Institute of Dental Research was first established in 1989. During the past 30 years it has developed to be a multi-disciplined national institute and played leading role of dental research in China. It is the training center for Ph.D students and post-doctoral stations. In 2002 Beijing Institute of Dental Research was approved as science and technology high level talents training center by State Ministry of Education, and the only one high level clinical talents training center in China. It is also one of the capital key research centers. The institute occupied 1,000 square meters with property RMB 15,000,000. In every year the hospital investments RMB 2,000,000 for the institute development. It is now playing a leading role among research of salivary gland gene , dental development and regeneration, oral family genetic diseases, orthodontology, oral microbiology, caries, Oral Microbiology, oral mucosa disease, dental implant etc. In 2007, Beijing conditional technology platform for supporting dental research was set up here. This platform was used to integrate the local oral research source in Beijing to improve the level or oral disease research and diagnosis and treatment. It will play a positive role in promoting the level of oral hygiene and oral disease treatment.
The institute has 24 researchers, among which 6 are full professors, 2 associate professors. The institute is now composed of eight departments: lab of gene therapy molecular biology, lab of cell biology, lab of microbiology, lab of oral biochemistry, lab of oral biomaterial, lab of physiology, lab of experimental pathology and lab of dental medicine research history, and experimental animal lab with SPF approved. |
